Ok, so the Forge World Boarding Marine I painted up to be form the Red Scorpions is done. I used some Vallejo Burnt Sienna pigment and added some Vallejo Matte Varnish to serve as the fixer for it.
For the Sword I wanted a more subtle power sword. I wanted a blue hugh to show it was powered up, but didn't want it glowing like a lightsaber. I decided to try the burnt blue from the Tamiya Weathering Pack. I have used this before on jet engines and some barrel tips and thought it could be applied on power weapons too.
I had an undercoat of Mithril Silver for the base. After letting it dry for a while I used the applicator (sponge tip like makeup) to rub it on in an alternating pattern on the top an bottom of the sword. I think it turned out pretty well and looks better in person. This is deceptively simple and may be my default way to do PWs in the future

Aw, you had that sweet insane-o list of colors to do the sword and you ended up going with Mithril? Bah.
ReplyDeleteMy love for insane-o lists drives this comment.
the colors were what was used on the armor and such. I haven't dabbled with NMM very much and I wasn't going to start on this model, especially one with grey armor.
